What oil is best for an oil lamp?Flat wick lamps and lanterns are designed to burn brightest with kerosene fuel, but clear lamp oil works just fine too. A popular lamp oil choice is K-1 kerosene, which is affordable and readily available from filling stations or in prepackaged containers. Sulfur and other impurities make kerosene smell.
